New gallery software is in place. It's much much better.
Admin interface is much simpler but different so you may have to relearn a couple things. controls are top left now instead of the dropdown when you're in your album.

I really hate to do this because one of the reasons I started carpron was to alleviate red x's, but this will make the admin side lliterally 10x easier. This is very important due to the current size (and constant growth) ........ approx 8k images in the user section and approx 6k in the main galleries ........ 14 gigs or so (had to buy more backup space :D ). Anyway, the user section is moving which will kill all hotlinked images (including my sig and a zillion other pics).
- All the user albums will be moved into one user section vs the mki, mkii, and mkiii separation currently in place.
- New registrants no longer need to create an album .... it's automatically created now
- User galleries are no longer restricted to MR2 enthusiasts
- You are still the admin within your own gallery, but please, no lime green backgrounds. ;)

It will likely be a pain to find your album the first time after the move ..... moving sucks even on teh intraweb.


If you registered before 10/5/2005 and don't have an album already, you cannot create one. email me with your username and I will create one for you in the above linked section.


Hosting:
There are some very good hosting sources out there that are free, don't tag images with lame ads, and allow hotlinking so you can post the pics in the forum.
http://photobucket.com/ is a good one.
http://imageshack.us/ is another.

You can, of course, also use the hosting I provide with carpron.com:

as the name of that link implies, it will not always be only for mr2 owners.
I'm still not completely satisfied with the orgainization so if you are using carpron and links die, it's because I've rearranged something. User albums/pics will not be deleted unless they are "offensive", lol.

Reasons to use carpron over the two I listed first:
permanancy - most hosting sites delete files after some period of time, I don't delete.
html is enabled on carpron so you can do whatever you like with your albums - I'll try to get a pretty album done as a reference for the possibilities.
no spam - I don't even look at users' email addresses much less sell them to nasty credit card places. The registration process is only there as a flood check.
quick posting links - when viewing your album thumbnails on a page like this, http://carpron.com/gallery/mr2na , all you need to do to post one of the thumbnails here is left click "vbCode" under the thumbnail and then ctrl+v (paste) here. The main thing lacking with the gallery software I'm using for carpron is the user interface. I will get to writing better instructions, but for now you can stumble through the process with the limited ones that are there (top of the first page of the mkii user gallery) and as always, you can email or pm me if you need a little help getting started. The garage feature here should actually take care of most of your mr2 pic hosting needs when completed. For now, feel free to abuse my server. ;)

If you don't need carpron for hosting, please still submit your best pics to the color galleries to improve this community resource. Submissions may be made by clicking the submit image at the beginning of each main album as seen top left here in the mkii black album: http://carpron.com/gallery/toyota_mr2_mkii_black

Galleries
Gragon started this idea for mr2's, but I wanted more info with the pics and more pics. I started carpron because I was tired of seeing red x's, tired of pictures disappearing, tired of seeing who's car is this threads, tired of not knowing what different parts were on a car, etc.
Hopefully carpron will alleviate some of my sleepiness and be a benefit to everyone. ;)

He has lots of other good galleries if you wander around the various directories. He was also kind enough to give me permission to use his pics so 80 years from now when I've finished uploading and including info with all the pics I already had and continually collect, I'll put those on carpron as well and credit him for the collection.

Carpron is organized mainly by color for the mkii's.

The non-color oriented galleries at the bottom of the page are there because they seemed like things that would be useful considering the number of questions I've seen on those topics.
I've barely started the mki's and haven't done jack for the mkiii's yet. mkii's are my first love so they get my attention initially.

The arrangement within galleries is not set in stone yet. I'm not particularly happy with a single person's car taking up an entire page, but I haven't decided on a slick way to collapse them to some degree. JDMR2's car is a good example since there are lots of pics for it and it has three main stages of being. My thought is to make an album for each of his car's stages and possibly sub albums for those for the different photo shoots.

If you see your car on carpron with no information listed with it, please use the add comment feature under the pic to let me know your board name (I'll html a link to your profile page here) and any info about the car that is not stock. If all the same info applies to a group of pics, just let me know under one and I'll copy everything to the proper fields for all cars. I look see all comments and don't delete them until I've updated the pics with the pertinent info. If your wheels/tires are not stock then let me know everything about them, diameter/width/offset/etc.
