Its MR 2 You12-21-2015, 02:52 PMThis thread is dead. Updates of the project will be posted in other places. Benckj12-21-2015, 03:46 PMWell not exactly my thing but your obviously a talented individual who has a flare for the arts. Good luck with your project and keep us updated on your progress.

jimb BeenaWhile12-21-2015, 06:40 PMNice art work, I am not that good though I wish I was. I noticed that the girl on the widebody lambo is a little off which I am sure you noticed as well. Her perspective is off or atleast doesn't match with where the windshield "would" be in reference to her posture. What I mean is she seems to be laying "in" and not "on" the windshield. Now on to the car, looks like a pretty nice project you have started with the widebody, do you have a trunk spoiler to help things line up better? Do you have any plans for performance ie: standalone, turbo upgrade. I am curious how your aero will work on this car, I want to know more about your changes. Last but not least what type of headlights are you putting on or are you creating your own design? mikereed12312-21-2015, 07:36 PMWelcome back! I followed your old build thread, and in fact it somewhat inspired myself to flare out my car. A mod that was very little done, is now becoming almost mainstream in the MR2 world. I love how you're building your car differently, and for the most part, hitting it out of the park with the results. Can't wait to see the progress, those rear flares already look great, where'd you get them from? booost12-21-2015, 09:28 PMGlad to see that the project is still going! I'll be sure to follow the progress bkperformance1912-21-2015, 10:08 PMI love that Japan themed anime !!! Your very talented. Please do a MK1 I'll make it the wallpaper on my phone :D Its MR 2 You12-21-2015, 10:13 PMNice art work, I am not that good though I wish I was. As for the art I disagree. I think her waste pivots just fine on an extremely slanted windshield. I wish I added a reflection though.

As for the car yes I will be addressing the trunk obviously but so far I only got the quarters on. I'll be making a custom lip spoiler. Bumper, fenders, headlights I have bought but they aren't for an MR2.

I have a haltech elite 2500 I bought in case I needed it for my Legacy's engine swap, but would work on the MR2 if I didn't. I will be upgrading the turbo once I decide if and what internals the car needs.

You seem like the type that loves to offer their critique whether people want to hear it or not so... You can wait till I post my updates and point out the flaws as I do.

Cheers.

Mike I got the rear flares I got from Extreme Dimentions. They were shit. But after some FRP repair and modifying them to fit the car better they aren't bad. I'll be moving my filler point and filling the glass door but I intend to pull molds off them and cut it back out if they look good enough and people want them. Its MR 2 You04-11-2016, 03:46 PM..... Dkid1504-11-2016, 06:35 PMI see the vision here. I think if this ends up done the right way it will look amazing. Benckj04-11-2016, 08:53 PMWondered what happened to you. Glad to see your still working on the car and sharing the progress.

jimb mrII04-12-2016, 08:13 AMWelcome back, I really like the engine lid.
Please update as the work continues. Its MR 2 You04-12-2016, 10:12 AM..... BeenaWhile04-12-2016, 10:35 AMI remember your old thread also, and I am also a fan of trying new things to help expand the envelope of what can be done with this car. I will echo what was previously said about the engine lid, looks very good and still functional ie..... I want one too. Archidamus-R04-12-2016, 04:11 PMwhen I fabricate the new knuckle.

Say what?! I have to see this! Plz!

I like your engine lid, too! Its MR 2 You04-13-2016, 10:02 AM.... FidKid104-13-2016, 10:34 AMLooks like quite the extensive project! I am excited to see it progress! That engine lid is sweet! Out of curiosity, is thAt center section plastic or metal? If plastic you might want to add a little bracing on the underside so it doesn't flex and twist and end up cracking your new paint when that time comes! Just my $0.02... I do have 1 other question, what are the square cutouts in the front bumper? Brake cooling ducts? If so, bad ass!! Haha. Do you have a link to your old thread? I would like to read up on the journey so far even if some nay-sayers did ruin it all!! Looking forward to more updates on this monster! Anime isn't really my thing, but those are some of the coolest drawings I have seen! I can definitely appreciate your skill level in those, especially the one with the skulls introducing your new pen name!! That is a SICK drawling!!

Edit: Just seen the post about the Celica! That is without question the Holy Grail of Celica's!!! Wow, nice work sir! Its MR 2 You04-13-2016, 01:00 PM..... mrII04-13-2016, 01:21 PMI like what are doing because you are thinking outside the box, the problem is not many people can.
I have sub this thread and would like to see more updates as they come up and when Campos has your items ready for sale, I pick some up. Archidamus-R04-13-2016, 02:48 PMYou are clearly certifiable.

I love it! Gives me a little prod to go dig up some of my crazier ideas.

What became of the Celaru? Its MR 2 You04-13-2016, 03:46 PM..... Its MR 2 You04-19-2016, 04:14 PM..... mikereed12304-20-2016, 08:25 PMi love how crazy your plans are, cant wait to see the results Its MR 2 You04-21-2016, 08:36 AMHey man. I checked out your thread the other day and saw the sad new. You planning to build up another one? If so let me know I'd love to help out if I can. BeenaWhile04-21-2016, 01:08 PMLove these ideas, wish I had space in a separate garage to build something like this too. I have a wide body kit on my MR2 already but really hate the shape of the fenders at the door looking "square". The first thing that came to my mind was it would be nice to get those type of fenders on the front of the MR2 and it would look 10x better. As for the rear I would use it to mock up possible engine swaps/wiring harness work, but I am a little bit ambitious at times while lacking the funds and know-how. Continue on good sir and good luck I will be watching your new thread. tjbm04-27-2016, 01:46 PMI like your plans and that you're thinking outside of the box. I read some of the old thread, and I really like the headlights. mikereed12304-27-2016, 06:39 PMHey man. I checked out your thread the other day and saw the sad new. You planning to build up another one? If so let me know I'd love to help out if I can.

I am! Going a different route with the build thread though, and starting my own blog. Check it out at www.apex-attack.com, I have a solid idea of how I want to build the car, but just need more time, and of course money to throw at it. Its MR 2 You04-28-2016, 08:46 AM.... FidKid104-28-2016, 05:53 PMCant wait to see it in the flesh! Coastal04-28-2016, 07:32 PMI'm definitely subscribed to see your crazy antics. Lofty goals, but you've shown to be capable. I'm eager to see your progress. driftingsw2104-28-2016, 08:54 PMLove what you are doing with the car maybe I'll see it in person at some random mr2 meet in the seattle area one day. Its MR 2 You05-31-2016, 09:31 AMHey all. A little update. I haven't had a lot of time to start working on the donor car as a few other projects have gotten in the way and I just want to get those done so I can focus on the MR2 without any distractions. However over the weekend I had to dome some consolidation of my shop because the storage unit I have been storing the bulk of the donor cars parts I want to get rid of now that I know which parts I can toss and which I want to keep. So my plan was to get as many parts as I can on the Purple car to make more room to store the additional donor cars parts i want to hang onto for later. I did a quick mount for my rear wing to mount on the trunk. It was very quick and dirty I just welded it to my spare trunk since I have another but its very sturdy and I have way more room in my shop for other things. I also mounted a new type of flare I got from my flare guy. Hes still working on the fronts so I just mounted the rears for now. 1.5" wider then the old flares so I have a spacer on there for now with room to spare to swap my 285/30/18s on to these 18x11s. I also got an extra 1.5" of length I can add to the rear arms when I make my new ones to help eliminate the snappiness of the cars suspension design. I should now be able to make the rear lower control arms a full 4" longer then my stock short 91 style arms and when i redo the knuckles I can make a 6" upper control arm and if for any reason I can fit up to a 14" wheel there without hitting the strut.

Anyways here are some pics I think it looks pretty slick.

At the storage unit i set aside all the parts i want to keep/ sell. The next step is to swap the doors to the electric ones from the donor after welding up the holes from the side moldings so I can scrap or sell my manual doors. Then I plan to paint all the black parts purple like the rest of the car so its all one color again and looking good for the summer while I work on my donor.

Anyways that's all I got for now.

Later BeenaWhile05-31-2016, 02:16 PMLooking good, great progress on the mr2. Is that your Legacy in the background? Looks great also, I am contemplating the wagon version to get rid of a minivan I was given that got a lot of miles and mpgs aren't that great. Back on topic though, keep up the work on this project and I am looking forward to the front fender mods. Its MR 2 You05-31-2016, 03:17 PMYeah that's my other car. I'm getting it ready to sell though. I need a more do everything kinda of car like an outback or baja or something. Its a 09 3.0r but I have the 2013 Legacy 3.6 installed in it, flared, custom header/ exhaust, EVO X front brakes w/ STI rears, 19x10.5 on 265/30/19s and some exterior goodies. Nice clean dependable car running off the stock ECU. Just doesn't have enough room anymore i need a support vehicle for the MR2 and to do more Cons to sell my art.

Been finished up this in take manifold I made for it. Its a direct swap all sensors retained but way bigger plenum and equal length runners for better even flow.

Selling that and my Custom GSXR Bobber thing I was working on are the 2 projects that have the MR2 on hold for a bit so I can sell them both and get the money needed to go balls out on the 2

This used to be an 04 GSXR 600... Its almost all OE GSXR aside from the frame, Intake/ exhaust, tank and, fender but engine, electronics, tranny, brakes, etc... would be serviceable easily as a GSXR. Its gonna be for sale soon if you know anyone get in now and you can pick the colors it gets painted. haha

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/GSXR%20Bobber/00000000-0000-0000-0000-0000000008F7_zpsy9m7n05f.jpg

Once these 2 projects are either done or done and gone the MR2 project can move forward. I need to post some of the MR2 stuff I have for sale to make more room I'm hoping I can sell locally to avoid shipping anything.

Johann BeenaWhile06-06-2016, 08:30 PMIronicly, I had an 04 GSXR-750 two years ago and have been toying with the idea for a while of having a comfortable to cruise on with a sportbike engine in it. Does this one have space for the stock radiator still? The funny thing is even with the 600cc engine in that frame it will still smoke most cruisers sold today, but I definitely like the way this looks. More pics please for side profile and even a pm on selling price. Its MR 2 You06-08-2016, 08:35 AMI've got a high capacity radiator from a raptor 600 for it cuz its tall and narrow rather then that wide bending curved one stock one. I also found a guy that can make me direct fit spoke wheels for it so it will match the old school look instead of mag style wheels. I have a side pic. Don't mind the pipe under the seat it was to set the plate. Bike sits really nice and the ride is stout, but forgiving and the posture is really nice and comfy too. Back is strait up and down and controls will be forward but there will be pegs at the stock riding position in the frame so you can change it up for long rides.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/GSXR%20Bobber/00000000-0000-0000-0000-0000000008F5_zpsrvq9ea8f.jpg BeenaWhile06-14-2016, 05:24 PMVery nice looking, man I wish had the extra cash to get this from you. The funny thing is I would take it with the current wheels on it, for some reason the spokes kind of disappear on them. I wonder what the mileage would be like with that small tank too? Keep up the work, bike looks soo good. Its MR 2 You07-05-2016, 02:12 PM..... Its MR 2 You07-12-2016, 12:48 PMSo a long time ago in a drunken stupor (literally) I got the idea to make an UEL header for my MR2 so it wouldn't sound do lame. Well the time has come that, that hodgepodge of pipes I had laying around has exceeded its lifespan and it was time to get a new header.

The old header was made from a cheap ebay header and then an assortment of random crap I had laying around. It was turned into a 4-2-2-1 header.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/MR2/MR209.jpg

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/MR2/MR208.jpg

Needless to say she was ugly but got the job done. Wrapped she was a lot better looking.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/MR2/image_zps1e353e9a.jpg

So this time around I wanted to try a 4-1 header like the original so I bought another cheap ebay MR2 N/A header and a cheap Subaru WRX Header. Both together ran me $210.00 shipped. I cut the 2 runners off and used the longer WRX header to lengthen them.

http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/MR2/CD8E0699-53F2-4B57-946A-0308F24AFA37_zps6fosjztt.jpg

Looks a lot nicer then the original and should last me a while till I swap in the 2GR in the not so near future.

Well that's all I got for now.
Later
Johann FidKid107-14-2016, 09:22 AMThe colors on that header look so awesome! I do have a question though... What are the specs on that header? I know that according to mrturrari's sticky "How to get power from a 5sfe without forced induction" (super long title haha). He claims that for a mild build you would want 1 3/8 to 1 5/8 primaries with 28" or longer runners in a 4-2-1 style header for best powerband. Extreme performance builds were supposed to be 1 5/8 to 1 3/4 with >24" runners. So I was just wondering where you are with this crazy thing! Haha. Also, you got any videos of how it sounds? If you were to build one, how much would you charge? mmarookiejoe07-14-2016, 04:29 PMNice work sir!

I love that engine lid... I was thinking about making two scoops similar to the old XVRacing style, but now I'm seriously considering copying yours - that thing is SWEET! Its MR 2 You07-15-2016, 08:15 AMThis is just a shit eBay header (1 3/8") 4-1 design. the short runners are 14" and my 2 long runners are 37" to a 2 1/2" collector. This header got me 4-5 mph more on avg. then my first UEL header at my little (test run) spot but I assure you its not optimal for making power on the 5sfe. The engine and the car is slow, I just hate the way they sound so much like Hondas so I made this.

I have a clip of the old header which is built/ sounds the same as this, but my current header has a leak at the flange I need to fix. I can post a vid of it once I fix it this weekend.

http://vid186.photobucket.com/albums/x223/badwagon/MR2/MR2baruVid.mp4

Making one would not be worth it if you were to pay me or anyone else cuz it would just be for the gain of the sound. I really cant say if it makes power. I made more then stock and this one makes more then my older one but putting this car on the dyno to see would be completely pointless till I need to tune the new engine that will actually makes power.

You can get the MR2 and WRX Header for about $190.00 for the pair and it took me about 4 hours to fit and weld up the new header. I prolly have another 2-3 hours to get this leak sorted out cuz I think the header I got had a warped flange so I am going to swap the good flange from my old header which is destined for the garbage. Maybe a little more money spent on the MR2 header would be a good idea if you were going to attempt to make one yourself.

Johann BeenaWhile11-21-2016, 07:05 PMAny updates Kharazmatik11-21-2016, 11:20 PMI was wondering the same thing. MC_fixer11-22-2016, 07:42 PMyour build reminds me of the sard mc8 mr2. NICE KingDra311-26-2016, 02:22 AMNeed more pics Its MR 2 You01-09-2017, 12:26 PMHey all; just wanted to give a little update. It’s been a while since I posted here I’m sure the 2-3 people that care have long since gone, but I thought I would post up what I have been doing over the last 6 months. As far as actual fabrication I took a step back because I made a bunch of changes to the build for the aero and the drivetrain so I have been working out the logistics of getting that all sorted out. I wasn’t ready to drop the funds to take this project on till just last week so in the meantime I have been working on building a scale model of the car using the parts I would actually be ordering and it came out really well. All the parts were accurate and they gave me a scaled dry run of the build so not only do I know the parts will work, but also all the areas of the parts and the chassis I need to modify taking a considerable amount of the guess work off the table so I can move forward with a lot more confidence. I also managed to acquire scaled resin detail pieces of the engine/ drivetrain components to check the fitment as well and that’s all a go as well.

I changed up the flares, and a few other parts I am going to be using for the Aero to something that has a little more flow and is actually better suited for that I wanted to achieve. I also completely changed the plans for the engine/ drivetrain and decided to go a much less conventional route, but using an engine I know very well. I have since started acquired the pieces to make a dummy engine and transmission by getting blown parts and then gutting them to reduce the working weight so I can fit them into the car and fab all the components to get all of the fabrication finished and then while I’m doing the paint/ body work to the chassis I can acquire working finished pieces to just install knowing it all will just bolt in. I ordered some of the first components for building the engines forced induction system. Started parting out the car to start prepping it for the fab work I can’t do using the donor. I also have been working on a 3D semi accurate model of the car so I can more accurately illustrate the suspension designs I have planned and have been using the model to help me make concept art of the car for some sponsorships I’m trying to attain. So I have a lot of stuff started but nothing finished really.

Unfortunately, I have divulged too much here already and the hater brigade was out in force with their useless opinions on what is and isn’t possible, as well as people trying to rip off my ideas, but without the ability so I won’t be posting anymore of this build here till it’s past the point that people can try and forecast my abilities. Consider this thread Dead. I will be posting my progress on a website I’m currently building and I think I may do a FB page for it as well attached to my artist name. If I do post here again it won’t be till after all the fab work is done and the car is going in for body work would most likely be early to mid-summer.

This project is not dead, its finally really kicking off and hopefully in 8-14 months it will be finished and all these desktop experts, and thieves with no imagination of their own will get a nice slice of humble pie. JDM Factory01-09-2017, 01:27 PMAwesome! Keep up the good work and update us the FB page if you do. Benckj01-09-2017, 05:56 PMA few of us supporters are still lurking in the background.
