View Full Version : need misc 3S parts (pulleys, pumps, gaskets, pipes)

reflexx10-09-2006, 10:26 AMNeed parts highlighted in yellow. Things like water pump prefer low mileage or new. Things like gaskets need to be new.

Tensioners/pulleys probably doesnt matter age/mileage.

Thanks!

accessory belt - new reflexx10-09-2006, 01:30 PMseems that arthur sold me most of the crap. thanks arthur, you rock! Bak@EMSPowered10-09-2006, 05:57 PMreflexx, if you're buying this stuff for your build I'd recommend getting a brand new timinig belt tensioner, and No1 idler pulley. those two are wear and tear items and you definitely don't want to have used ones on a new engine. reflexx10-09-2006, 06:21 PMi am getting a new timing belt.

isn't the tensioner and idler pulley metal? how would it wear against a rubber belt? i pulled off the 5s idler pulley from my 120K mile donor block and it doesnt show any signs of wear.

sorry if im missing something here... Bak@EMSPowered10-09-2006, 06:28 PMThe tensioner is held tight by hydraulic fluid that sits behind a seal and forces the rod out. After a while the hydraulic fuild WILL leak out and the rod will not have as much force behind it. The No1 idler pulley has bearings that wear out after a god while, and it starts to vibrate/shake when spinning. Both are really inexpensive pieces and I'd recommend using new ones with your motor. Alot of wholesale outlets even sell the timing belt, tensioner & pulley as a timinig belt package for the 3s/5s. Even if these parts are not showing wear, they are probably very near the end of their usable life. reflexx10-09-2006, 06:43 PMok, ill get new ones. thanks Bak@EMSPowered10-09-2006, 08:02 PMnp tlohman10-18-2006, 11:37 AMdo you still need anything or did you end up getting it all? reflexx10-22-2006, 08:33 PMgot it all, thanks!
